Running Accomplishments:

I have been running ever since my 7th grade year when I joined the junior high track team. When I made the move to High School I jumped right into XC and then to track. Had the opportunity to run at Nike Cross Regionals in Arizona with my team this last season. My PR's are: Mile- 4:54, 2 mile: 10:32, 800m: 2:13, 5K: 17:07, 400: 57 sec.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My goals for thie track season is to qualify for state in one of the three main distance events. I'm focusing on getting there for the mile with the rest of my team but would be happy with any that may come my way. 800m: 2:00, Mile: 4:26, 2 Mile: 10:05.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to run in college after high school but if that doesn't pan out then my goal is to stay active with running, maybe get into running half or full marathons.

Personal:

Diabetic Asmatic. Found out I had type-1 diabetes right before my first year running XC for my high school. I had asthma as a kid and it went away and recently came back last track season, I didn't find out about it until this last XC season so my PR's aren't quite where I want the to be. Once I began treating my asthma my PR for the 5k dropped by a minute so I'm excited to see how that translates to this track season. Member of Team Pre, follow us @team_pre on instagram!

BYU indoor track meet, ran a 5:00 mile and then a 2:18 on my 800 meter run. The track was 325 meters and it tooke 5 laps to complete a mile. For the mile, I was slotted in at the 7th spot in my heat. I put my seed time in at 5:05 which was a good 10 sec. faster than what I did 2 weeks ago at Utah State. I didn't know what to expect since my legs were giving me so much trouble this week and I was also feeling pretty sick for the past two days. My plan was to run the mile and see if I could handle running the 800 as well. Anyways, Right off the bat I was in third place, right behind the leaders. I quickly determined to just stay right with them the whole race. Around lap two we got passed by 2 guys but we quickly were able to regain the lead. Our group of 3 slowly got bigger and going into the last lap the group had grown to 5 or 6 people. I kept with them as best I could but didn't have the best kick and I began to think too much and let my sickness get to me so I dropped back from 3rd and ended up getting 5th or 6th, I'm not really sure. I crossed the line at exactly a 5:00 mile which I was thrilled about. Offically this is now my PR (I ran a 4:57 at NXR) so I'm happy about it. My coach was way excited about it, especially after running a 5:15 last week. The 800 happened like 4 hours later so Connor, Justus, Thomas, and I got some more miles in to waste some time. I was seeded 10th in my 800 heat and I was a little worried. There were 13 of us and I didn't know how I would stack up against the other runners. I started the race right behind the guy who was seeded 2nd (1st didn't show up) so I knew that I would have a good start, I was wrong. He was slow off of the line and I had to push him to keep myself from running into him. We got around to the 200 meterish mark and I realized that we were going way to slow. I was in 3rd at the time and quickly sped on by the two leaders to take the lead. I held that for a lap and then I completely died. I got passed by one guy, and then another and the distance between us was too much for me to make up. I think I ended up coming in 3rd or 4th with a 2:18, it was definitely frustrating. I know that I could crush that time, so next week if I run it I am going to put my seed time in at like a 2:10 so I can be with people who can push me. Overall it was a pretty good day, I'm looking forward to next week when I can improve more on my times.
