Running Accomplishments:

I have been running ever since my 7th grade year when I joined the junior high track team. When I made the move to High School I jumped right into XC and then to track. Had the opportunity to run at Nike Cross Regionals in Arizona with my team this last season. My PR's are: Mile- 4:54, 2 mile: 10:32, 800m: 2:13, 5K: 17:07, 400: 57 sec.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My goals for thie track season is to qualify for state in one of the three main distance events. I'm focusing on getting there for the mile with the rest of my team but would be happy with any that may come my way. 800m: 2:00, Mile: 4:26, 2 Mile: 10:05.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to run in college after high school but if that doesn't pan out then my goal is to stay active with running, maybe get into running half or full marathons.

Personal:

Diabetic Asmatic. Found out I had type-1 diabetes right before my first year running XC for my high school. I had asthma as a kid and it went away and recently came back last track season, I didn't find out about it until this last XC season so my PR's aren't quite where I want the to be. Once I began treating my asthma my PR for the 5k dropped by a minute so I'm excited to see how that translates to this track season. Member of Team Pre, follow us @team_pre on instagram!

I ran the 3200 today at the ice oval. I ran 2 miles in the morning before I left and then when I got there I ran a mile with Sean and Matt on the track. I got there way early because I hitched a ride with Matt so I was sitting for a lot of the day. I checked my sugar levels after running the mile with Sean and Matt and my levels were 400+ which if you didn't know, is really really bad. I ended up having to change my site at the meet so that I could get the insulin in me. It took a few hours but my levels eventually went back down in the 100's so I was better. If they would've stayed that high I wouldn't have been able to race, which would've made my pretty mad. We warmed up for the 2 mile way too early and were stuck sitting around for over an hour waiting for it to be our turn. There were some bikes next to us so we spent some time on there keeping our legs warm. I was in the same heat as Matt and Colin. We started the race at a weird spot because the track is more than a 400 and it was only 7 laps from the finish line instead of the usual 8. It was pretty hard to know what you were on pace for so I just tried to stay at a consistent pace and to keep passing people. My first mile was under 5:10 I think, I can't really remember but I wasn't really gaining on anyone and no one was gaining on me. With about 3 laps to go I felt like I was getting passed by a lot of people (it was only like 2) so I told myself that I was just going to go and I didn't care what happened. From there I kept pushing my pace until there was about a lap to go. I was in a group of 3 at that point and I was just trying to stay with the group. Our group began to disperse and I passed on of them. Coming around the 200 mark I really started to go, the guy who I had just passed, passed me back with a little over 100m to go and I immediatley kicked past him. I then passed another guy, and another and I realized that I was having a great kick. Matt was a little ways ahead of me so I put it in another gear and sped by him and finished less than 1 sec. ahead of him. I ended up passing 4-5 people in my final kick. I went over to my coach and she told me that I looked pretty conservative during the race (which I agreed with). I plan on running it again in 2 weeks at the same place to see what I can get. Overall I was very happy with getting a 10:32. My last time running it in track I got 11:30 and during XC one of my splits was a 10:50 so I pr'd by a lot. After my race we went on a cool down. Matt got 11 miles before I did so I ran a little further with Connor and Sean so that I could get the same amount.
