Running Accomplishments:

I have been running ever since my 7th grade year when I joined the junior high track team. When I made the move to High School I jumped right into XC and then to track. Had the opportunity to run at Nike Cross Regionals in Arizona with my team this last season. My PR's are: Mile- 4:54, 2 mile: 10:32, 800m: 2:13, 5K: 17:07, 400: 57 sec.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My goals for thie track season is to qualify for state in one of the three main distance events. I'm focusing on getting there for the mile with the rest of my team but would be happy with any that may come my way. 800m: 2:00, Mile: 4:26, 2 Mile: 10:05.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to run in college after high school but if that doesn't pan out then my goal is to stay active with running, maybe get into running half or full marathons.

Personal:

Diabetic Asmatic. Found out I had type-1 diabetes right before my first year running XC for my high school. I had asthma as a kid and it went away and recently came back last track season, I didn't find out about it until this last XC season so my PR's aren't quite where I want the to be. Once I began treating my asthma my PR for the 5k dropped by a minute so I'm excited to see how that translates to this track season. Member of Team Pre, follow us @team_pre on instagram!

10 mile easy run today. My legs were hurting pretty bad but I was still able to get through it. We ran on the bike trail that goes by my house and then did a loop back to the high school. Average pace for the day was a 6:46/mile. I can't wait for my new shoes to get here, my current ones are pretty wrecked.

There was a tri-meet going on at the high school the our team was involved in today but Jamie had us sit it out because of St. George this weekend. We went and ran for 3 miles and then when we got back we did 6x400 at goal mile pace for the weekend. I was shooting for a 72-73 but was more at a 69-70 which I was fine with. There were only 4 of us doing it so I was happy going a little faster to stay with them. My legs didn't hurt too bad during the workout but they gave me a few problems during the rest of our miles. I took an ice bath last night and it helped a lot, I really need to get back on track of icing every day. My new shoes came today which was good, it probably wasn't the best idea to do speed in them the first day but I didn't care, they felt great so I was happy.

We ran to the temple today which was really good. My legs were hurting pretty bad but it was nice and flat for the most part so I was able to hold a pretty good pace. By the end my legs weren't hurting very bad at all so I was very grateful for that.

On a side note, my mission call could come any day now! I am super stoked for find out where I will be serving for the next two years!

I found out that I am running the mile at the St. George meet so I had pre-meet today. Matt and Connor had a different workout so a few of us did pre-meet and then we met up with Matt and Connor to finish our miles. We ended up running down by my grandparents house and made a loop until we hit 8 miles for the day. I am super excited for the meet tomorrow and to see what I can do. It's supposed to be really hot though, which I am fairly happy for. If I don't come back with a super nice tan I will be super pissed.

No mission call today, my worst fear has been realized as i am 99% sure it'll come tomorrow when I am gone!

Met up on the bus at 6:00am so we could make it to the meet in time for my race. We stopped for lunch at 11ish but it was too close to race time at 1 so Sean and I ran a mile instead of eating. We got to the race and warmed up and I was feeling confident about what was going to happen. Sean, Thomas, and Ryan were all in the 2nd heat and I was in the 3rd. They did a weird alternating pattern where the girls would go and then the guys would go and it would go back and forth like that each race. I wasn't a fan. I had to wait a long time after my teammates ran which made it hard for me to stay focused. I ran around on the turf a little bit to stay loose until it was finally my turn. My first lap was like a 68 and then I held consistenly between a 72-74 for the whole thing (I could be wrong, I didn't wear my watch). My last lap was a 74 which was hard for me because I literally got passed by almost everyone in my heat. I crossed without anything left and saw my time as a 4:56 when I crossed. I was beyond pissed. My legs hurt like crap and I felt like I should've been able to go a lot faster. I talked to my coach after and she recommended that I get compression socks to help deal with the pain that I have been having in my legs for the past few weeks so I plan on getting that soon. I found out that my time was a 4:55 a little later which helped brighten my mood a little bit but not much. I ended up running a few more times and ended up getting a total of 7 miles for the day.

My mission call finally came today! Too bad I am in St. George though...

Great day at the meet today. I ran periodically throughout the day which was nice especially because my legs were hurting way bad. It was great to watch other people have great races and then being able to run with them after to hear how they felt about it. Shoutout to Matt for having a HUGE pr and winning his heat in the 2 mile! Also, shoutout to Connor Baller for coming super close to qualifying for state in the 2 mile.
