Running Accomplishments:

I have been running ever since my 7th grade year when I joined the junior high track team. When I made the move to High School I jumped right into XC and then to track. Had the opportunity to run at Nike Cross Regionals in Arizona with my team this last season. My PR's are: Mile- 4:54, 2 mile: 10:32, 800m: 2:13, 5K: 17:07, 400: 57 sec.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My goals for thie track season is to qualify for state in one of the three main distance events. I'm focusing on getting there for the mile with the rest of my team but would be happy with any that may come my way. 800m: 2:00, Mile: 4:26, 2 Mile: 10:05.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to run in college after high school but if that doesn't pan out then my goal is to stay active with running, maybe get into running half or full marathons.

Personal:

Diabetic Asmatic. Found out I had type-1 diabetes right before my first year running XC for my high school. I had asthma as a kid and it went away and recently came back last track season, I didn't find out about it until this last XC season so my PR's aren't quite where I want the to be. Once I began treating my asthma my PR for the 5k dropped by a minute so I'm excited to see how that translates to this track season. Member of Team Pre, follow us @team_pre on instagram!

Distance run today. My legs hurt way bad again today. I iced yesterday but it didn't help as much as I had hoped. We did a mile of speed changes on the track and then got out on our run. I was able to hang with the group which was good for how my legs were feeling. I kept almost stopping and turning around but somehow I was able to complete all the miles. Average pace for the day was 6:51/mile.

Pre meet for our meet tomorrow. There was a junior high meet going on so we were forced to run our 400's at wines park. We started off by running through the cemetery and then down through the creek until we came to the park. From there we did our strides and then did the 400's. I'm not sure how fast we did them or how accurate each 400 was. My legs were hurting pretty bad throughout the run even with the many long breaks that we took. After doing the 400's we ran up main street and then back to the high school so we would get 8 miles for the day. Average pace for the day was a 6:52/mile. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Horrible horrible day today. When the mile came around we warmed up with Garek B. from East (he's kinda really fast) and then went over and got ready to race.  I was in the 2nd heat (it went fastest to slowest) with Matt. The race started out pretty well and I found myself at the head of the pack chasing a couple of guys who got out ahead. I tried to hold it but quickly realized that I couldn't breath. I kept telling myself just to hold on and I ended up getting a 5 minute mile. I was super pissed off about it but there's nothing that I really could've done. I warmed up with my bandana and used my inhaler before the race but the wind just didn't cooperate with my lungs at all. We then got some of us together and went and ran 3 miles as a cool down. When we got back I listened to my music in order to clear my head for the 4x800 that I was also running. I did like a half mile warm up for the race. I wanted to do more but I ran out of time. I was running 2nd behind Matt and then Brock and Colin were after me. At the last minute Brock dropped out and Tanner took his place. Matt wasn't feeling very good and ran a 2:19. Once I got the baton I could feel all the anger that was built up from my last race and I took off pretty fast. The guy infront of me had a pretty sizeable lead on me and it took the whole 2 laps for me to catch up and pass him. I ended up running a 2:15 which sucked but I was fine with it since I was super wiped out from everything I'd done that day. After we were done we only had like a half mile left so Matt and I cooled down around the school. Today sucked back and it definitely took a shot at my confidence. I'm in dire need of a good workout.

Recovery run today. I started out by running 1.25 as a warm up with Connor. I skipped the team warm ups in order to make sure my legs were completely warmed up because they were hurting pretty bad. Once out on our run my legs had a constant soreness and I didn't know if I was going to be able to finish the full miles. I was running the back with Sean and we ran up a hill which really spread the group out. We met up at the top where Sean told me that he was just running back because he was in so much pain. By this time the rest of the group had already left and I was alone. I started the process to catch up and ended up running a 6:20 mile shorten the gap. It took like a mile and a half to catch up but it felt great. Going that fast really loosened up my legs which helped me to get through the rest of the run. We got back and I ran a little more than a 200 with Connor while he was getting the rest of his miles. Today was a workout that I definitely needed, especially after my crappy day yesterday. I iced a lot when I got home in order to prepare for our 6 miles of tempo tomorrow. Average pace for the day was a 6:50/mile.

Tempo run today. We had two different paces that we would switch off each mile. The first one was between a 5:27-5:40 and the second one was 6:10-6:30. I held on pretty well for the first mile but my legs were killing me so I took a quick 10 second stop to stretch it and fell back behind the group. I was never able to catch back up and I went significantly slower throughout. I had to stop after each mile to stretch my legs which were hurting more than they ever had before. Then to top it all off I had a pretty nasty asthma attack and my diabetes levels were pretty low. For the last 2 miles of the tempo I just kept it at a 6:30. My average pace for the day was a 6:35/mile which isn't too bad when I look at how much pain I was in. I was very glad to be done when I got back and I'm just going to try and forget about this run.

Distance run today. I woke up this morning and was a little nervous about how my run would go after yesterday's disaster of a run. I decided to split up my miles mostly to let my legs really recover and hopefully relieve some of the soreness and pain that I have had to deal with. I started going, and except for a little bit of pain in my right leg, I felt great. I decided that I would just try and get as many miles as I could. I kept it nice and flat and only had to run down one hill which i took nice and slow. I took a break half way down it to stretch my legs because it was hurting pretty bad. That was my only stop except for the one to stretch after my first mile. I made it back alive and immediatly took an ice bath. My average pace was a 6:40/mile which was faster then I wanted to go but it just kind of happened. I'll be sure to rest up for these next two days in preparation for next week. This was a pretty horrible week for me, hopefully it will get better next week.
