Running Accomplishments:

I have been running ever since my 7th grade year when I joined the junior high track team. When I made the move to High School I jumped right into XC and then to track. Had the opportunity to run at Nike Cross Regionals in Arizona with my team this last season. My PR's are: Mile- 4:54, 2 mile: 10:32, 800m: 2:13, 5K: 17:07, 400: 57 sec.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My goals for thie track season is to qualify for state in one of the three main distance events. I'm focusing on getting there for the mile with the rest of my team but would be happy with any that may come my way. 800m: 2:00, Mile: 4:26, 2 Mile: 10:05.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to run in college after high school but if that doesn't pan out then my goal is to stay active with running, maybe get into running half or full marathons.

Personal:

Diabetic Asmatic. Found out I had type-1 diabetes right before my first year running XC for my high school. I had asthma as a kid and it went away and recently came back last track season, I didn't find out about it until this last XC season so my PR's aren't quite where I want the to be. Once I began treating my asthma my PR for the 5k dropped by a minute so I'm excited to see how that translates to this track season. Member of Team Pre, follow us @team_pre on instagram!

Nice easy run today. We went out on the trail by my house until we hit the right distance until we had to turn back. The way back was significantly faster dropping from a 6:45 pace to sub-6:30. Average pace overall for the run was 6:52/mile (warm up mile was 8:55 and it brought the average slower by a little bit)

9 miles at distance pace today. We ran out into the middle of nowhere by Saratoga Springs, it was nice to be able to run without anyone yelling at us (though we did have people pretend like they were going to hit us to get us to get out of the road, which was impossible). My warm up mile was 8:22 and then the next 8 miles were all between 6:06-6:55. Average pace for the day was 6:41/mile.

Speed changes out on the road. We did 12 x 1 minute on, one minute off at mile pace. Somebody also surged for 5 sec. during it and we all had to try and stay with them. I was able to hold on for a good 4 of them and then disaster struck. The pain and soreness in my legs became unbearable and I was having trouble breathing. #6 was my turn to do the surge and I didn't think I could do it, but my teammates made me (which I was glad about). After #6 I fell way behind and didn't make contact with them until we were done. Then we had to run 4 and a half miles which literally almost killed me. We stopped at Willowcreek for a break and then I practically limped back to the High School. I was definitely happy to get today overwith after a horrible workout like that.

Pre meet today for the race at the Ice Oval tomorrow. We warmed up and then Jaimie had the seniors stay to talk about our goals for this upcoming season. After that Sean and I went and ran a couple of miles and went back and did premeet. I ran 2 400's, the first one was like a 68 sec. and the second one was a 70 sec. Sean and I were worried about the 70 sec. one but it turned out everyone was getting around that time so we felt better about it after. Then Connor roped me into running another one with him and I was able to get a 67 sec. on it. After we were done with that Matt and I went and ran 5 more miles to get my distance to 9.5. I'm super excited for the meet tomorrow and am looking forward to hopefully getting some nice PR's.

Distance challenge at the Utah Olympic Ice Oval today. I decided to run the 1600 and the 3200. We warmed up a mile before the 1600 and then we went and ran it. My legs weren't feeling the best but I was still able to pull off a new PR and got 4:54! This is my first official time breaking 5 minutes in the mile (my watch told me I got a 4:57 at Nike Cross Regionals during XC). I told my coach that my legs felt horrible so she recommended that after I cooled down I should elevate my legs, so I did. They were feeling better but I was just not mentally there while waiting the three hours until the 3200 would start. I warmed up 2 miles with Sean and felt better but still wasn't feeling very good. I ended up getting a 10:44 and that's all I'm really going to say about it, it was horrible. After I cooled down a mile on the track with my teammates to get my miles up to 9.

Woke up this morning way tired and bailed on going 10 miles in the morning with Matt. Once I got myself up I went on a 3.5 mile run at around a 6:50/mile pace and then went to play church ball. There was a lot of running involved. The other team had 7 players and we only had 4 (Brady, Connor, and Matt). Then later that night I ran 5.5 miles on my treadmill to get my daily mileage up to 9.
