Running Accomplishments:

I have been running ever since my 7th grade year when I joined the junior high track team. When I made the move to High School I jumped right into XC and then to track. Had the opportunity to run at Nike Cross Regionals in Arizona with my team this last season. My PR's are: Mile- 4:54, 2 mile: 10:32, 800m: 2:13, 5K: 17:07, 400: 57 sec.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My goals for thie track season is to qualify for state in one of the three main distance events. I'm focusing on getting there for the mile with the rest of my team but would be happy with any that may come my way. 800m: 2:00, Mile: 4:26, 2 Mile: 10:05.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to run in college after high school but if that doesn't pan out then my goal is to stay active with running, maybe get into running half or full marathons.

Personal:

Diabetic Asmatic. Found out I had type-1 diabetes right before my first year running XC for my high school. I had asthma as a kid and it went away and recently came back last track season, I didn't find out about it until this last XC season so my PR's aren't quite where I want the to be. Once I began treating my asthma my PR for the 5k dropped by a minute so I'm excited to see how that translates to this track season. Member of Team Pre, follow us @team_pre on instagram!

We did 1 minute on, 1 minute off 10 times at mile/2 mile pace. For the final 5 seconds of each "on" we would surge. My legs hurt  really bad from the start but was still able to hold with the group for the first 4 or 5. After that my legs just couldn't take it anymore and I dropped off quite a bit. After we were done we slowly crawled back to the high school (we were running into the wind the whole way back). I iced my legs and so hopefully they will be feeling better by tomorrow.

Today was another 8 mile easy day with a little bit of weights. We did the weights first and only had time to bench until Sean had to leave, so at that point we all went with him and got out on our run. We ran a big loop that included killer hill, so that was pretty tough but it didn't end up being as bad as I was expecting. Icing my legs yesterday helped my legs a lot today, my legs still hurt way bad, but unlike yesterday, I was able to get through the pain without falling behind the group. I iced again today and am hoping to have them feel even better then they did today.

Speed workout today. We did a 3X 200 (800 pace), 400 (mile pace), and 200 (800 pace) with 45 seconds inbetween each one and 3 minutes rest (or something like that) between each set. I felt great through the whole thing and was able to hang out with the pack. Our first set was a little slow but we figured it all out by the second and third. The wind was pretty ridiculous so when we had to run into the wind it was pretty killer. My asthma really kicked in during the last 400 and 200. I was still able to somehow pull off the 400 in 73 sec. though so I was pretty pleased with that. After we went out to get the rest of our miles which sucked really bad. We ran through the creek and took a long break there. Then we ran around until we hit the rest of our miles. My legs hurt pretty bad during the cool down but it wasn't enough to stop me today (thankfully).

Short lifting workout before our run. I slacked pretty bad for some reason and was able to get the squats with weight done but that we pretty much it. I talked to my coach about my shins and I may have shin splints forming so she told me ways to treat it and recommended that I do a cross train day on the bikes either today or tomorrow. I chose tomorrow so that hopefully my legs won't hurt too bad and I'll be able to run anyways. Connor, Chicken Nugget, Austin, Brady and I then went out on our run. Brady's knee was hurting pretty bad so he cut off pretty early. The rest of us ran out by thanksgiving point until we got to the point where we could turn back. Average pace for the day was 7:00/mile. My legs hurt pretty bad after that and so I iced them to try and get them to relax. Hopefully my legs feel good tomorrow.

As you can see from my mileage, my legs were pretty beat up. I did some exercises for my shins right before I went to bed and was still feeling it pretty bad in the morning. I decided right there that I was going to bike. So I warmed up and then all of us injured people went inside to the stationary bikes and warmed up for 10 minutes and then did 8x 30 sec. standing, 30 sec. hovering the seat, and then 2 minutes of sitting. The first few sets burned pretty bad but by the end it didn't hurt too bad. After Brock and I cooled down for 10 more minutes and decided to do abs. We grabbed medicine balls (mine was 8 lbs.) and did 3x 50 russian twists and 30 sit ups while on the ab machines. I then decided my abs weren't worked enough so I did 3x 60 sec. planks on both my sides and front. I felt pretty accomplished at that point and was about to leave when Austin asked if I wanted to do that dirty 30 (or something like that). I had no idea what that was so he explained that you do 30 sit ups 30 sec. rest, 29 sit ups, 29 sec. rest...etc. For some reason I agreed to do it. It was Austin, Ryan, and I for the first few and then Alicia and Emily joined us at about 27 sit ups. I could definitely feel the burn and expect a 10 pack in the morning. I plan on running tomorrow at a nice slow pace (probably with my brother in law). Awesome week next week, I'm definitely looking forward to how tired I am going to be this time next week! #speedworkoutsfordays

I wasn't quite sure if I was going to be able to get all my miles in this morning. I woke up and my shins hurt pretty bad, but I tested it out while running and they felt fine so I decided to give it a shot. I wasn't able to run until later in the day and to my surprise, there was a full on snow storm outside. It was pretty cold but I was still able to get all my miles in. I went fast, maybe a little too fast, but with not running yesterday I had a lot of energy and my legs felt fine. I was able to hold a 6:20/mile pace for the whole run so I was pretty happy with it.
