Running Accomplishments:

I have been running ever since my 7th grade year when I joined the junior high track team. When I made the move to High School I jumped right into XC and then to track. Had the opportunity to run at Nike Cross Regionals in Arizona with my team this last season. My PR's are: Mile- 4:54, 2 mile: 10:32, 800m: 2:13, 5K: 17:07, 400: 57 sec.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My goals for thie track season is to qualify for state in one of the three main distance events. I'm focusing on getting there for the mile with the rest of my team but would be happy with any that may come my way. 800m: 2:00, Mile: 4:26, 2 Mile: 10:05.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would love to run in college after high school but if that doesn't pan out then my goal is to stay active with running, maybe get into running half or full marathons.

Personal:

Diabetic Asmatic. Found out I had type-1 diabetes right before my first year running XC for my high school. I had asthma as a kid and it went away and recently came back last track season, I didn't find out about it until this last XC season so my PR's aren't quite where I want the to be. Once I began treating my asthma my PR for the 5k dropped by a minute so I'm excited to see how that translates to this track season. Member of Team Pre, follow us @team_pre on instagram!

Low easy distance run to prepare for Awesome Week this week. We were supposed to go 8 but my legs weren't feeling it today. So i decided to run 6 miles and then I went and biked for 15 minutes to simulate running for that amount of time. My legs felt great after so I'm hoping they still feel good after the dream mile and a half tomorrow. I iced my legs a little when I got home so we will see what happens.

Today was the dream mile and a half, also known as the widow maker. It's a mile and a half race straight up hill that you do as fast as you can. Seniors didn't have school today so Sean, Matt, and I met in the morning and ran 4 miles so we wouldn't have to run anymore after we finished the actual workout. I felt great and my shins only hurt a little bit and then when we were about less then .25 left I got this bad cramp and was struggling to breath so I had to stop to catch my breath. I gained it back after a few minutes and was able to make it back without dying. Then at 1 pm after a crazy snow storm, our team met up and ran the dream mile and a half. We went pretty slow up over the overpass so most people's times were slower but i was able to get 5 seconds faster than the last time we ran it so I was pretty happy (9:34). Then we slowly ran back to the high school. I ran a half mile on the turf when I got back and then went and biked for 15 minutes just because. I tried doing abs but was only able to get 60 sit ups and 100 russian twists before my abs hurt to bad (I was using the ab machine), I was hurting from that last ab workout I did more than I thought.

Easy distance run today. We ran up to this dirt pit thinking it would be dry from the storm yesterday, it wasn't so now my shoes are pretty muddy. Average pace was a 7:02/mile. I felt pretty good today and am looking forward to 3 straight days of speed for the rest of the week.

5x500m at 800 pace. What we did was run the 400 on pace for your goal 800 pace and then give it all you got for the final 100. It was pretty rough today but I was still fairly happy with how I did. I was able to finish it without dying which was pretty good. I was feeling pretty horrible when we were finished and our 6:49/mile recovery didn't help, we have whistle hills tomorrow so hopefully that'll go better.

Whistle hills at the cemetery. For whistle hills we run up a gradual hill as fast as we can for 15, 20, and then 25 seconds. Our rest was the time it took to get down to the bottom and then we would go again. We did that 3 times. I was in the very front for the first set and felt good, but then for the second set I was more in 5th place, I was super tired and wasn't sure how I was going to finish. My shins also started hurting at that point so I was worried that they would get worse. The final set hurt pretty bad, but it went good. I was able to be up towards the front for them all. After we were done with that we went and cooled down 4 more miles to get our mileage for the day to 8. Super pumped for Morp tonight, not sure how I'll have any energy for it but I'm gonna give it all I got.

Final day of awesome week and we did 20x400's, we did them in sets of 5. The first set was 5k pace so I was hitting around 80 every time, inbetween those we had 45 sec. of rest. For the second set we did goal 2 mile pace and I was getting around a 75 for each of those, we had 60 sec. rest inbetween those. The next set was current mile pace and I think I was hitting around 72's for them (I can't really remember). For the final set we pretty much just had to give whatever was left and do goal mile pace. I consistently hit 69 sec. for each of them. I wanted to go faster but my legs were super tired from the dance last night and from all the speed that I did this week. We had breakfast after the workout today so we quickly ran 2 more miles to finish up our miles for the day. Overall I felt like I had a pretty good week, my shins aren't hurting nearly as bad so I'm very grateful for that. First meet is on Tuesday! It's only a duel meet but it'll be fun to get out there and race after a little bit off once indoor ended.

Shoutout to Tyler for getting his mission call to Jamaica today! I look forward to hearing him convert Usain Bolt! And also to Darin who got his call to Chicago, Illinois (that's where my sister is serving) spanish speaking!
